Henry Keadle

In Loving Memory of Henry Keadle
9/20/2006-3/16/2020
You will be in our hearts and minds forever!
For 13 and a 1/2 years, Martin and I were lucky enough to be owned by an intelligent Yellow English Labrador. Henry was more human than dog. In fact, he hated being treated like a dog. He refused to chase balls or retrieve anything because he knew he had a more important purpose. He was our boss at home and at the clinic. Everybody learned to just keep Henry happy or nobody would be happy. Despite that, Henry was loved by all. He brought us laughter and love while demanding treats and roaming the clinic greeting and comforting clients. Henry always got his way, but he was worth it. He gave us so much joy. Henry survived a rare cancer and he recovered from his serious stroke, but age began to take its toll. Going to the clinic and doing all the things he loved became too difficult. One day, he just stopped eating, even refusing his favorite human foods. I said to Martin, “Henry has made the decision because he knows we can’t.”
On March 16th, we said goodbye and Henry died surrounded by his family including all our family dogs, as my grandfather clock started playing the Westminster chimes in the background. As the saying goes, “Every time you hear a bell, an angel gets his wings.” Henry let us know he got his wings! Such a Henry move!
