Raw Cat Food with Salmonella Risk Recalled

A California company that makes raw foods for cats and dogs is recalling one of its products because it may be contaminated with Salmonella.

 

The voluntary recall by Primal Pet Foods of San Mateo is for Feline Chicken & Salmon Formula, 4 lb. chicken and salmon nuggets (UPC# 8 95135 00025 0) with a "best by" date code of 043112-17, located on the front of the package to the right of the product label.

 

The recalled product was distributed through retail stores sales in the United States. No other Primal Pet Foods products are affected. No pet or human illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this lot code.

 

Consumers who purchased the recalled product can contact Primal Pet Foods directly at 866-566-4652 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT for assistance in getting you a full refund or replacement from the place of purchase.

More Pig Ear Pet Treats Recalled

 Two more companies are recalling pig ear dog treats after a supplier, Keys Manufacturing of Paris, IL, found that a batch of the pet chews tested positive for Salmonella.

 One dog has been reported to have become ill because of contaminated pig ears.

 Boss Pet Products' recall is for Diggers Natural Treat Pig Ear pet treats, which were distributed from November, 2010 through April, 2011 in MT, CA, WA, OK, TN, NY, KS, OH, TX, MS, AL, OR, UT, IA, MO, IL, IN, LA, and MN.

 The pig ears were sold in bulk in boxes of 100 (UPC 0-72929-00038-6); shrink wrapped in boxes of 50 (UPC 0-72929-99120-2); in ?two-pack bags shipped in cases of 12 bags (UPC 0-72929-99504-0);? four-pack bags shipped in cases of 12 bags (UPC 0-72929-00227-4) eight-pack bags shipped in cases of 12 bags (UPC 0-72929-99584-2).
