LASER SURGERY

The term "laser" is an acronym for light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation.

At Longenbaugh Veterinary Hospital we use a CO2 laser for our surgical procedures. The laser is a very effective tool for incising, excising and ablating soft tissue leaving very little thermal damage around the procedure site. With laser surgery, the patient experiences less blood loss and less postoperative swelling than that afforded by traditional surgical methods. By sealing nerve endings it is also believed to provide better pain control. The laser will also destroy bacteria, which can reduce the risk of post-procedural infection.

In addition to the CO2 laser for surgeries, we now use the K-laser for pain management in our post surgical, chronic inflammation, and chronic pain patients.  The K-laser is drug free, surgical free, and pain free.  The laser improves blood flow to an area thus promotes faster wound and incision site healing, reduces swelling, and improves range of motion.
